5 Steps for Online Application of New Voter ID

Follow simple steps to enroll for a new voter ID. Be ready with your mobile number to apply for EPIC. Online applications for voter ID can be made through the official website or Mobile App.

1. Go to the Voter’s Service Portal or visit the official/authentic website of the Election Commission of India: Voter’s Service Portal
2. In the section “New registration for general electors,” opt to Fill Form 6 for Indian citizens or Form 6A for NRI.
3. Next, Sign up using a mobile number. Verify the mobile number with the OTP received on the registered mobile.
4. In the next step, log in to the portal, fill in the required form according to the requirements of the form and upload the asked documents in png/jpg/pdf fomat.
5. Press the button “Preview and Submit.”

You will receive further information on your registered mobile and email ID. Using the information, the applicant can track the new voter ID application status online.

Changes and Corrections in Voter ID or EPIC

Corrections and changes can be requested in EPIC or voter ID using various Forms like Form 7, Form 8. Form 7 is used for Objection for proposed inclusion/deletion of name in existing roll, whereas Form 8 is used for correction of entries in existing electoral roll/Shifting of residence/replacement of EPIC/marking of PwD.

2. You can log in directly using your EPIC number and verify using your OTP.
3. After logging in, fill out the required Form 7 or Form 8 and Submit the Form.

Types of Form for Voter ID/EPIC number

5 types of Forms are available online for various purposes on the Election Commission of India portal.

1. Form 6: It is used to enroll for application of new voter id for Indian citizens aged 18 years or more or will turn 18 in a few months.
2. Form 6A: It is used to enroll for New registration for overseas (NRI) electors.
3. Form 7: It is used to delete the name from the existing roll. Using this Form 7, anyone can request to remove/cancel their voter ID/EPIC. Even this Form 7 is used to raise any objection in the existing roll.
4. Form 8: It is used for
   • Application for Shifting of Residence

   • Application for Issue of Replacement EPIC/Voter ID without correction, if lost or destroyed due to any valid reason.
   • Application for Marking Person with Disability like visual, deaf and dumb, locomotive or any other reasons.
5. Form 6B: It means a Letter for Aadhaar number Information for the purpose of electoral roll authentication.
